In engineering education programs, students are expected to gain certain skill sets to address the global problems.Assessment of these skill sets by the instructor is one of the challenging task. This paper discusses the designed rubrics and the assessment tools used in order to attain graduate attributes to its best. The 'Automation and Control Laboratory' course of Final Year B. Tech Electrical under-graduate programme is selected for the attainment of Program Outcomes. The assessment of the course is done through Continuous Assessment (CA) and Course-Mini Projects (CMPs). Implementation of different methodologies to assess the student's skills are discussed in the paper. The correlation between assessment methods and CLOs and then POs is done. The attainment of POs is calculated after calculating Course Outcomes (COs) through direct and indirect methods.Keywords

This paper discusses a course in microprocessor and microcontroller system design in electrical engineering education to facilitate the student learning outcomes through hands-on projects, simulations based on low-cost platform. This course aimed to develop design and technical skills along with communication and team management skills. A project-based learning (PBL) approach was taken into consideration. Students were asked to work on a mini design project. The main focus of the course was on laboratory, where they combined learning of microcontroller, control systems and power electronics courses.Students developed the hardware prototypes using 8051 microcontroller and they were introduced open source hardware like arduino and also encouraged to work on such platform which enabled them to undertake a range of design activities. The students with same wave length came together to form groups. The groups were given a time span of a semester to complete their undertaken project task. Evaluation of this course was obtained from students, staff, and an external examiner, and the results show that the PBL achieved its educational objectives.Keywords

The aim of this article is to evaluate antioxidant activity of leaf extract of Senna occidentalis by using in vitro assay. Extraction was carried out with ethanol extract by using Soxhlet apparatus. The in-vitro antioxidant activity ethanol extract has been investigated by 1, 1-diphenyl,2-picryl–hydrazyl free radical (DPPH) method. The ethanol extract exhibited maximum antioxidant activity. The results have been compared with the standard ascorbic acid. The Ethanolic leaf extract of Senna occidentalis shows IC50 value at 7 μg/ml.Keywords

Background: Injury to the ACL(Anterior Cruciate Ligament) not only causes mechanical instability but also leads to functional deficit in the form of diminished proprioception of the knee joint. This study analyzes and reviews our understanding of the sensory element of ACL deficiency, with specific reference to proprioception as an important component of functional knee stability.
Method: 100 patients who underwent ACL reconstruction surgery and completed Simple and Effective Rehabilitation Protocol(SERP) with minimum duration of 2 years from surgery to follow up, were all assessed for proprioception, stability and functional outcome of the reconstructed knee. They were assessed by the knee joint position sense, single leg hop test for both the normal and reconstructed knee and KOOS questionnaire respectively.
Result: Chi square table value for 1degree freedom at 0.05 was 3.84, hence the calculated Chi square values of proprioception knee in supine lying, proprioception knee in standing and single leg hop are less than table value of the accepted hypothesis which concludes that, there is no significant difference between the scores of selected outcome variables among reconstructed knee and normal knee subjects. The calculated paired‘t’ and ‘t’ table value with respect to the functional outcome of knee in operated and normal subjects was 6.53 and 2.66 respectively at 0.005 level.
Conclusion: There was no significant difference of Proprioception between the scores of selected outcome variables among reconstructed knee and normal knee in supine lying, standing and single leg hop. But it shows that there is significant difference of 2.66 at 0.005 level between reconstructed knee and normal knee groups with respect to the functional outcome of knee after two years of follow-up in ACL reconstructed knees.
